It has been nearly 3 years since we bought this 'new' house of ours and every day feels like a step closer to making this house really feel like our home.
From the moment we got the keys to the house we have spent so much time, blood, sweat, and tears in remodeling, refreshing, and decorating so that our house really speaks to who we are and what our style is. When we initially looked at the house I personally was not a big fan; I knew the home would need a lot of work to make it kid and dog friend and it needed a lot of work to update it and make it a reflection of my own style. Despite many hesitations initially, we decided to purchase the house because it fit a lot of other criteria we had that was difficult to find in our neighborhood and more importantly, in our price-range. We knew going into it that the work would not get done overnight and that it may not be our dream home, but we would do all that we can to make it a great home to raise our family!
Since I am a lover of DIY projects and have been so lucky to be raised to be hands-on by my dad who is an extremely knowledgeable and talented Contractor, I love taking on projects myself. Some of the projects that we have done we have had to hire-out for as they were much larger than anything that we could handle on our own but there have been many projects that I have done! From complete yard overhauls to new flooring to wallpaper installations, the projects vary in size and in difficulty and in overall style of the home. What I love most about working on a house is seeing how even the smallest changes can make the biggest impact!
This blog section will serve as a place where I can talk about all of the fun - and some not-so-fun - projects that we have taken on at our home. Wherever I can I will be sure to include step-by-step instructions for a DIY project and will provide before, during, and after photos when I can, too!
